Greetings from Europe -Part 1

Bonjour fellow internet people! I'm currently writing this from my Airbnb in Paris. It's been a while and I've been jotting notes down on paper (like a prehistoric, I know) and I figured it was a good time to share the progress.

I'm also tracking my trip with Polarsteps. Here's my trip link if you want to take a peak at my adventure!

Okay so I wrote these sections whenever I had some free time. Hope you enjoy!

Landed in Munich, spent the day there. Went to some famous restaurant for lunch, explored the Olympic park and walked around the city. (We were only there for an afternoon so didn't do too much).

We travelled back to Liechtenstein, where my travel buddy lives, and hung out for a couple days. Visited some mountains around there, had a MASSIVE schnitzel in Austria (like a 6-minute drive from his house), went out drinking with his friends (locals) and took a cable car to the top of Santis mountain in the Alps.

Six hours on a train later and we're in Vienna, Austria. We explored around the hostel and went on a palace tour. We went to the zoo, although it wasn't too eventful, we hardly saw any cool animals. We did see a polar bear though! And penguins, they're always awesome.

After walking around Vienna for what seemed like forever since the Natural History Museum was closed, we ended up going from plaza to plaza in Vienna. Took a ride on the oldest operating Ferris wheel in Europe (I think) and had some great views of the city.

Finally, for dinner, we went to Vapiano, a chain Italian restaurant that is the equivalent of Subway for pasta. They make the pasta right in front of you! It was so cool and tasted fantastic. Obviously, I had linguini. It was tutto benne!

In the hostel, we met a guy named Ritchie, who was older, maybe 40s. Guy has been travelling for 2 years and has 1 more! He's been to 50 countries and has a goal to hit 80. That is insane! Cool guy though, turns out he was from Toronto, too. What are the chances the first traveller we meet lives an hours drive from my house. He travelled with one of those folding bikes; actually, quite a few people do.

Currently writing this waiting for the train from Vienna to Budapest, will update soon!

June 3, 2017
So Budapest was interesting. Everything was kinda old looking, the metro trains could have been from 1910, the whole city kind of looked like it didn't exactly recover from the war in some places. But other places looked crazy cool with stunning architecture. It has a weird vibe. The food in Budapest wasn't anything special and the people weren't very friendly, but the hostel was nice.

We met some cool people in our hostel, a bunch of Irish guys who we couldn't really understand, a South African who was really cool and an English girl who could have voice doubled Hermoine in Harry Potter. The latter two actually work on cruise ships 9 months of the year and are travelling the rest of it. What a life eh.

There wasn't too much to see there, but what we did see was neat. The architecture was so different than what I've seen before, (however similar to the rest of Europe as I'm seeing with each new city).

I kind of preferred Vienna to Budapest, something about the people and vibe there just wasn't comfortable, but still, a cool place to see.

A short 3-hour train ride brings us to our next stop in Bratislava, Slovakia.

Again, not a whole lot to see here, but we explored the "old city" quite a bit. Tons of bars and restaurants around. We hiked up to visit the castle and lucky us there was this festival thing there. Super cheap beer (5 beers for 6 euros!) and we drank most of the afternoon overlooking the entire city. It was a good time.

Currently waiting for the train to Prague.

This is getting a tad long so I will post another soon! Thanks for reading and see you next time!

If you'd like to keep reading, you can find Part 2 here.

Euroblog Part 7

This series ended up being far longer than I anticipated. I could make an ebook about my travels! Who am I kidding, no one would want to read that... let alone buy it. Also, side note: Polarsteps was so great up until a couple days ago when it went haywire and threw a bunch of phantom travel paths on my map. Support said it has been fixed however, there was no way to remove the phantom lines. This all makes for a ton of work for me to redo all of the travel steps. It's unfortunate but I understand these things happen. Anyway, it's all updated now and working as it should, sorry to my 7000  7 followers for any inconvenience. Now that it's all back to normal, here is the link if you'd like to check out my trip! If you missed any of the series, check it out on my social media feeds or on my blog homepage. The last post is right here! July 22 2017 Wow, am I ever behind on this. [Left off in Florence] So I went up the massive dome of the Florence Cathedral...

Tim Hortons: An In-depth Review

As I sit here pretending to be a scriptwriter at a budget Starbucks  Tim Hortons, feeling slightly out of place, I write this review. This will be an attempt at a new series on my blog, since I've been dry with ideas since returning to Canada. Tim Hortons is a Canadian classic coffee shop turned fast food restaurant while still retaining its coffeeshop status. Apparently, it used to be excellent until they changed coffee beans, but that was before my coffee drinking days so I and most people around my age probably feel the same (we don't feel anything about the changed beans). It also used to be cheap, but since high-status coffee shops like the aforementioned Starbucks and Second Cup somehow get away with charging 10$ for a drink, the friendly neighborhood Canadian brand jacks prices to compete. At least it still has its loyal customers. Fun fact, the first Tim's restaurant was in my hometown of Hamilton! It's also the usual go-to spot for a quick bathroom brea...

"Creative yet Clickbaity Title on Solar Energy!"

In the last post, I talked about what the Sun was. A giant nuclear fusion reactor. And since it is so good at being the Sun, it not only provides heat to our Earth, but also light. Lots of light. Hopefully, this isn't news to you (yikes!). Light is an interesting thing we very much take for granted. Look around, there is light in the room you're in, light coming from the screen you're reading this on (unless you're psycho and still print things..) and light from outside. Even at night! The light from the moon, isn't really light from the moon, but a reflection of light from the Sun. Did I just blow your mind? Probably not.. I guess I'm failing as a writer. There is a lot of light available, and all that light also carries energy, rather, it is energy. In reality, the light from your phone screen doesn't really have the potential to power anything, neither does a light bulb. But think about how many light bulbs it would take to equal the amount of light t...
