Guess I Forgot About This...

Well...

It's been a while. A long while. Here's an update!

For those precise folks who love numbers like me, its been exactly 290 days in this small, yet somewhat likable town. For those wondering, I did learn and near master the art of male laundry.

Quick lesson on male laundry:

Step 1: Gather all clothes from floor
Step 2: Shove into washing machine until no more clothes fit
Step 3: Set to "Quick", add soap and run
Step 4: Repeat above 3 steps for drier excluding soap
Step 5: Find a place to put clothes where folding is not necessary

Aside from wearing mostly wrinkled clothes all year, the living away from home experience has been very pleasant. Mind you, my monthly trips to my parents' house were great for restocking my refrigerator. Over these months I've met a lot of new people and lived with some interesting characters. But I'm not one to judge.. well, sometimes.

Summer was great here. Finally put my road bike to work on weekends and ran a 5 km in under half an hour. Unfortunately that's the extent of my outdoor fitness. Still not bad Jay *pats self on back*. I did basically stop working out in the summer months and am having trouble getting back into the gym as much as I used to, but I'll chalk that up to a "I'm getting there".

Some highlights.. (assholes who don't give a shit can skip this section)
Ran, well mostly walked, briskly, Tough Mudder 2014. Improving on the obstacles from the previous year despite the typoon (okay, heavy rain) conditions. Saw an NFL game in Detroit.. yeah, fucking Detroit. But it wasn't as bad as I thought, fun actually. Experienced my first Canadian/US border vehicle search.. yeah that sucked.
There's plenty more, but I'm just bored of writing about them.

Work is going well.

I've also logged a good 50 hours barbecuing since I refuse to use the oven. That shit is just too slow.

Its been a great time here in Sarnia but I'm looking forward to moving back home for a few months before I ship off again.

Until next time!

Euroblog Part 7

This series ended up being far longer than I anticipated. I could make an ebook about my travels! Who am I kidding, no one would want to read that... let alone buy it. Also, side note: Polarsteps was so great up until a couple days ago when it went haywire and threw a bunch of phantom travel paths on my map. Support said it has been fixed however, there was no way to remove the phantom lines. This all makes for a ton of work for me to redo all of the travel steps. It's unfortunate but I understand these things happen. Anyway, it's all updated now and working as it should, sorry to my 7000  7 followers for any inconvenience. Now that it's all back to normal, here is the link if you'd like to check out my trip! If you missed any of the series, check it out on my social media feeds or on my blog homepage. The last post is right here! July 22 2017 Wow, am I ever behind on this. [Left off in Florence] So I went up the massive dome of the Florence Cathedral...

Tim Hortons: An In-depth Review

As I sit here pretending to be a scriptwriter at a budget Starbucks  Tim Hortons, feeling slightly out of place, I write this review. This will be an attempt at a new series on my blog, since I've been dry with ideas since returning to Canada. Tim Hortons is a Canadian classic coffee shop turned fast food restaurant while still retaining its coffeeshop status. Apparently, it used to be excellent until they changed coffee beans, but that was before my coffee drinking days so I and most people around my age probably feel the same (we don't feel anything about the changed beans). It also used to be cheap, but since high-status coffee shops like the aforementioned Starbucks and Second Cup somehow get away with charging 10$ for a drink, the friendly neighborhood Canadian brand jacks prices to compete. At least it still has its loyal customers. Fun fact, the first Tim's restaurant was in my hometown of Hamilton! It's also the usual go-to spot for a quick bathroom brea...

"Creative yet Clickbaity Title on Solar Energy!"

In the last post, I talked about what the Sun was. A giant nuclear fusion reactor. And since it is so good at being the Sun, it not only provides heat to our Earth, but also light. Lots of light. Hopefully, this isn't news to you (yikes!). Light is an interesting thing we very much take for granted. Look around, there is light in the room you're in, light coming from the screen you're reading this on (unless you're psycho and still print things..) and light from outside. Even at night! The light from the moon, isn't really light from the moon, but a reflection of light from the Sun. Did I just blow your mind? Probably not.. I guess I'm failing as a writer. There is a lot of light available, and all that light also carries energy, rather, it is energy. In reality, the light from your phone screen doesn't really have the potential to power anything, neither does a light bulb. But think about how many light bulbs it would take to equal the amount of light t...
